Shlomit Moria – Yarra Valley Open Studios 2024 Artist
Wood sculptor and chainsaw carver, Shlomit, says “I love the way the wood dictates the piece, the little bit of unpredictability fascinates me and reminds me to let the magic do its thing without trying to control it; wood is a living thing and it is an honour sculpting with it.”
After many years in the 2 dimensional world of graphic art, Shlomit is now following her lifelong passion for the 3 dimensional medium of wood sculpture. Chainsaws are versatile and allow working with large pieces of wood, however, she uses many other power tools to reach the result she is after.
