Come and learn how to use and activate biochar to use in your garden.
Biochar is a carbon-rich material made by burning biomass (wood, leaves and branches) in a low oxygen environment. Learn about how the structure of biochar helps to store carbon in the soil while improving soil and plant health and encouraging mycorrhizal fungi. It can also reduce fertiliser requirements by storing nutrients in the soil.
The hands-on workshop will cover the benefits of using biochar, while learning how to prepare biochar by charging it up and applying it to your garden.
For morning Tea there will be chat and chai available from Melganics followed by a Food Forest Working Bee, all welcome to join in!
