Welcome to term 3; heavens, how quickly time slides through the months!
Currently we watch the snow clouds hovering over our local mountains decorating the native landscape in a dressing of white. Still, it won’t be long before the first buds of spring emerge and those of us enamoured with our gardens, will be back with our hands in the ground. The ECOSS nursery has an abundance of native plants to attract our resident birds, bees and butterflies, so if you’re looking for some mindful play, or are interested in creating a landscape that feeds, or homes our local winged creatures, come down to the nursery. It’s open five days a week with an honesty box or a QR code on site.
Taste of Modzaka
Experience a taste of Modzaka; an afternoon of West African music immersion giving the local community and those beyond, the opportunity to experience and participate in African Culture! There’ll be a drumming workshop with Master drummer Bouba and new moves to learn in an African dance workshop with Kwame and Lou Wang. We’ll have performances by ‘Calabash’ West African Ensemble, comprising the incredible West African performers: Kofi Kunkpe, Boubacar Gaye, Aboubacar Djelike Kouyate & Amadou Suso. Local drum students are assured to get everyone moving, showcasing a variety of West African rhythms and songs with The Yarra Valley Drummers and Badger Creek Drummers led by Kofi Kunkpe; with African food available to purchase. Taste of Modzaka offers a unique opportunity for the community to experience and participate in West African culture.
