August ECOSS News…

Our send off to Tobias and Josh from Silvertine Farm was held after last weeks Friday market, with a round of genuine gratitude for their wholesome contribution to our community. Handed a generous hamper, complete with cameo woodcarvings from Shlomit, they both shared their own thoughts and experiences of being on site over the last 10 years. From a point of genuine sadness at their leaving, we turn with renewed anticipation toward Nic and Mellissa and their team of workers, who have taken custodianship of Silvertine, continuing the tradition of growing fresh food on site at ECOSS.

A New Chapter for Silvertine Farm

Silvertine Farm has a new team of custodians, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be looking after this special patch of earth. If you’ve been part of the Valley community, you’ll know Silvertine is woven right through ECOSS’s story. It was the farm-gate sales here, back in those strange early days of 2020, that grew into the Friday Valley Market we all love today. For us this isn’t a changing of the guard so much as the next chapter of something this community builds together.

We owe an enormous thank you to Josh and Tobias, who have poured years of heart and skill into this soil. They’re not disappearing — they’re walking alongside us through a careful handover, and we’re soaking up everything they’ll teach us. And here’s our gentle ask: please be patient with us as we learn the ropes — the seasons, the soil, the rhythm of the place. Come and say hello at the stall, lend a hand in the garden, share what you know, or join us as a volunteer. We’d love to put faces to this community we’re now part of. With gratitude to ECOSS, the volunteers, and all of you — we can’t wait to grow alongside you.

And Thanks Again to Four Pillars
With our recent large Ribbons of Green order complete, we’d like to thank our current Four Pillars volunteers who braved the winter to join us in pricking out 500 seedlings towards our next order: Great job everyone!

And if your having thoughts about your own spring garden, pop into our nursery for a hit of inspiration in attracting birds, bees, butterflies and an assortment of other welcomed creatures. All our stock is grown in bio char to give them a good start.
