Body of Wellbeing Ltd are so excited to be part of organising this event. We have organised some great speakers to share some of their knowledge with you all between the bands.
We are thrilled to introduce our first speaker Dr Sarah Bonell…
Dr Sarah Bonell holds a PhD in psychology awarded by the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on all things body image, but in particular she is interested in societal perception of appearance enhancements (e.g., cosmetic surgery, makeup, veneers). Sarah is also interested in how social media shapes the way we feel about our bodies (both good and bad!) and social media movements like body positivity and body neutrality.
Introducing our second speaker presenting at Valley Youth Fest this Friday 13th September; Abbey Pike, Education Officer at Eating Disorders Victoria.
With a background in Public Health and Health Promotion, Abbey has worked in the mental health space for over four years. As an experienced mental health program facilitator and Education Officer at EDV, she enjoys making a difference through creating spaces for meaningful conversation and learning – whether it’s through facilitating workshops in the community, presenting to professionals, or developing engaging online learning resources.
Having personally experienced and fully recovered from an eating disorder, Abbey is deeply passionate about advocating for mental health awareness, and is committed to empowering individuals and communities to learn more about, and feel confident in their understanding of eating disorders.
Outside of work, you can find Abbey in her happy place at a concert or musical theatre show, reading a book, or planning her next travel destination!
Introducing our next amazing speaker Susie Hansen, Director of Programs and Operations at Eating Disorders Victoria.
Susie is a dynamic leader in healthcare with over 18 years of experience, specializing in youth mental health and eating disorders. As the Director of Programs and Operations at Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV), she oversees vital support teams and drives innovative initiatives that make a real difference in young people’s lives.
